Eastern Oregon is famous for its mule deer hunting but the
eastern slopes of the Cascades holds some huge blacktail
bucks as well. All eastern Oregon deer hunting is controlled
by application for tags that must be filed by 15 May of the
year to be hunted for the GMU to be hunted.
We hunt the West Biggs Unit for mule deer and the White
River Unit for blacktail deer. These are areas I have hunted
successfully for the past 40 years.
I have rattled up whitetails, Oregon blacktails (one Boone &
Crockett candidate) and Washington mule deer bucks not
only when they were still in the velvet during the late
summer but also during the rut and long after the rut had
passed in the dead of winter.
The season runs for nine days during the first week of
October. We book fair chase hunts for the first five days of
the season and provide tented private camps.
Our private camps are fully outfitted for first-rate
accommodations, fabulous meals and relaxing campfires
along the banks of the Deschutes River.
