"A Walk in the Woods"
Glenn Summers was raised at the edge of the Missouri Ozarks and has spent most of his life working and living in the outdoors as a forester, wildlife manager, fishing and hunting guide and outfitter. Glenn has enjoyed success as a freelance writer and photographer for most major hunting and fishing publications. Glenn is currently working on a hunting book called "Tales of the Hunt."
His newest novel, "A Walk in the Woods" takes professional guide John Lee Culpepper on an adventure in the Pacific Northwest.
Professional guide, John Lee Culpepper kills a huge bull elk and returns the following morning to pack it out. He is amazed to find SOMETHING has taken a 250-pound quarter from the cooling stack. Knowing that no bear, no animal he know of in the Pacific Northwest is capable of such a feat, he is confounded. John Lee finds only faint huge tracks and a terrible stench proving that some immense beast took the elk meat. Evidence leads him to conclusions he doesn't want to accept.
Hikers in the Northwest begin disappearing. John Lee is suspicious of the common factors; no bodies are ever found, no tracks, clues or trail, just the ever-present, mysterious, gagging stench......
...Tim thought he heard a faint noise behind him and turning, confronted the blurred motion of a huge and hairy creature, mouth agape, lips rolled back and yellowed fangs bared barreling down at him. His bowels and bladder emptied as in unbelievable horror he stood frozen in place as the monster descended on him. With a blow that would have felled a draft horse, it almost decapitated him, hurling his body off the trail and down into the vine maples and ferns. Tim’s body hardly came to rest, barely crushed down the ferns before it was swept up and carried off into the dark timber.
